Our clearance collection is the fastest-moving part of the store and the least understood. People assume "clearance" means damaged or last year's leftovers. At Bova in Dallas it usually means one of three things, and knowing which is which tells you how good the deal is.
The three kinds of clearance
Floor samples. A sofa, sectional, dining set or bed that has been on display in our showroom on Alpha Road. It's been sat on and touched, inspected before it goes out, and priced well below the same piece ordered new. Floor samples are the majority of what's in clearance and usually the best value, because it's the exact piece you sat in.
Discontinued models. The manufacturer has stopped making that model or finish, so we can't reorder it. These are brand new, in the box or on the floor, and priced to move because they can't be replaced.
Closeouts and cancellations. A special order that was cancelled, or an overstock from a vendor. New, often in original packaging, sometimes in a color we wouldn't normally stock.
What condition to expect
Every clearance product page states the condition. Floor samples are sold as-is; if there's a scuff or a worn spot, it's noted. Discontinued and closeout items are new. All clearance sales are final, which is the trade-off for the price.
How to actually get one
Most clearance pieces are one of a kind, so whoever pays first gets it. The clearance page is updated weekly; if you see a piece you want, call (972) 716-9600 to confirm it's still on the floor before you drive in, and put a deposit down over the phone if you're sure. Financing applies to clearance purchases, and we deliver clearance items across Dallas–Fort Worth on the same schedule as everything else — often within the week, since it's already here.
When new stock arrives
Floor samples turn over when a collection is refreshed, which happens most in January and late summer. If you're looking for a specific brand — Stressless, Incanto, ALF Italia — tell us and we'll call you when a floor sample in that line is about to be marked down.
